Pinhead Gunpowder es una banda formada por Billie Joe Armstrong, Jason White, Aaron Cometbus y Bill Schneider (en sustitución de Mike Kirsch). El nombre de la banda proviene de un té de alto octanaje en una de las zambullidas de Aaron a los basureros. La agrupación fue fundada en 1991 sin ningún fin más que el de divertise, siendo un lugar donde Aaron se desenvuelve principalmente con las letras, Jason en voz y letras, mientras que Billie pasa a tener un papel secundario en ambos casos.
